This week has been an exciting one.
After a long time of deliberating as to whether or not incorporating was the right thing for me to do , I did it.
I am very pleased to say that HerringLG LLC is becoming a full fledge corporation and so I am left with one natural question to be answered…..”How do I drum up some business?”
I have created a facebook page for my company, a twitter account and this blog.
A website has been created and I think I am going to begin looking into methods of marketing my business both online and to my local business community.
Hopes are high and expectations are throttled back. Wish me Luck!!
Well, if you are like me, you have a few of these handy little microSD cards laying around that you have purchased over the years. Some of them arrive unformatted and when you attempt a format in Windows, well , things just look even more bleak.
Well, after Googling for a LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time and searching a TON of sites, many of which are FILLED with ads and malware, I came across this site. https://www.sdcard.org .
So, if you want to reformat and properly report the storage capacity of your SD or SDHC card, Micro or standard size, go to this website and under downloads, you can find and install the SDFormater utility.
It is a straight forward install and once you are done you can begin fixing all those small cards that have become boat anchors for ants.
I personally fixed a 4GB, 8 GB and a 32 GB MicoSDHC’s and they are all working like champs.
Well another semester has come and gone down the University of Houston and I am now really!!! close to graduating. By the end of July, I will be done. BS in Supply Chain and Logistics Technology will be wrapped up and I am out! Out to do what exactly? Who knows, but I am prepared to take that challenge as it comes.
On May 3, 2011 Former President of Mexico, Vincente Fox, visited the UH Campus down on Cullen. His presence is the result of the Gulen Institue operating in the University of Houston College of Social Work. I had not heard of a “Gulen” before but looked him up afterward. Pretty interesting. Here is a link to the Institute’s website. The writing below is my recollection of the speech. Please forgive any inaccuracies, they are made honestly and not intentionally. I thoroughly enjoyed the speech and love to get a perspective of events in the world from leaders or former leaders that helped to shape the world we all live in. Also, I use Wikipedia for a couple reason, first it is freely accessible and secondly it accumulates sources and if you really want to begin research on a topic it is a great place to start.
The Overview of the speech was as follows. He discussed:
- the Gulen Institute
- Similar movements in Latin America in the past
- His time in Office and his family, his foundation
- Current Events in Mexico and the US
- Current Events in the World around the US and Mexico
- Consolidation of Democracies in Latin America
- The border between the US and Mexico in relation to the Partnership between the two Nations
- His opinion on resolving the immigration and drug problems
- The loss of integrity to the country Mexico
- What citizens in the United States need to do moving forward

Random Questions from the audience
Today was interesting for me. The owner of the Astros came in and spoke to a group of College of Technology students. I really never knew what it was that Mr. McLane made his money doing. The audience received a quick overview of his education at Baylor in 1958 and the consequent education he recieved working for his father’s grocery distribution company. The details were pretty interesting. No wonder he was a fan of “starting from the bottom.” Mr. McLane , fresh out of college, worked the docks of his father’s warehouse loading and unloading trucks.
Ultimatly the event ended with some sage words of advice for young minds about to enter the free market system, either as employees or entreprenuers.
Advice in the form of some pretty illustrative stories such as the following:
“There are two mountains with a wire bridge between their tops. A flea and an elephant cross the bridge together and at the end of the crossing the flea turns to the elephant and says, ‘we really shook things up didn’t we?’ Surround yourself with people that are impacting the world around them.”
Thanks Mr. McLane for the investment of your time this afternoon, we appreciate it.
More To Come.
